PRESIDENT & MEMBER WARIS
BERADAT

May peace be upon you.
I would like to start by congratulating the members that make this website a success. With this site, Silat Seni Gayong will be more well-known and understood. This is important for those who wish to learn the art that has been a tradition for many generations.
I was introduced to PASAK by the late Mr Naif almost 20 years ago with some friends from the Fire Department. In the beginning I only involved myself with the Executive Committee with administration work until I was entrusted with the post of President up until today.
But after meeting Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman, my involvement increased.
In 1998, I was promoted as member of Lembaga Waris Beradat, responsible for maintaining proprieties and regulations in Silat Seni Gayong (PASAK) Singapore.
My relationship with Dato' Meor became very close, and he always offer challenges to me such as breaking green bamboo with my head or a moving tyre on top of my arm. He tend to test me alot and I never refuse.
Unfortunately, my relationship with Dato' Meor is only temporary when he died in 1991.

In order to further our cause, I will hold this post of President with full sincerity and patience, with support from my comrades. It is my way of repaying the trust given to me.
I have been sent by PASAK a representative. And I also managed to earn a seat in the Singapore Silat Federation EXCO. During the years 1983 to 85, I was elected as Team Manager for the National Silat Team for the SEA Games and the World Championships.
Silat Seni Gayong (PASAK)'s involvement with the World Martial Arts Union, headquarters in Chungju, Korea, strengthened my motivation to further our cause in introducing Silat Seni Gayong to the world. For 3 years I went to Korea as Delegation chief, I am most proud of the performances done by our members. In general, we were warmly welcomed by the locals and delegations from other nations.
And also it fills me with great pride to represent PASAK in signing the agreement to be accepted as member of WOMAU, something that I cannot forget in the history of my involvement as President of PASAK.

Another thing that I cannot forget is when receiving the Medal of Honor in the closing ceremony in 2003 in Chungju. It is an honor not only for me but for Silat Seni Gayong (PASAK) and also Singapore.
May Silat Seni Gayong's appearance in this festival opens a path for the world to know Silat Seni Gayong, its history, ideas, and traditions.
I hope that all members of Silat Sen Gayong will utilize this site as best as possible. Also, be patient in facing all challenges in pursuing this art.
That's all for now.
May God's blessings remains with us in our pursuits and efforts.
Thank you.
Juwahir Bin Sarip
Presiden I, PASAK. Singapura.
