COMPETITION SILAT

 

To all members that wishes to take part in competition silat on the National level, even those not too active but wants to start again. I will make a proposal to the EXCO to elect a special committee to be responsible in this area.

This committee will be responsible for the selection of athletes and enforcement of discipline so as to be strict in complying with the laws and regulations pertaining to training.

Previous experience must be accepted as learning experiences where silat athletes only show up when invited to participate in any one competition. After that, they simply disappear without any reason or any specific reasons. There are even those who are so enthusiastic to sign up for National competition, but once their names are submitted, the enthusiasm waned and their attendance is low.

It is important to understand that training for competitions are on-going, only question is the date and time of the competition that is decided by the organizers. Thus, it is not appropriate to show up only when a certain competition is announced. Interest in competition must be followed by sacrifice and enthusiasm and training must be on-going to ensure an acceptable level of fitness for every competition.

There are those that are still active and have represented PASAK in competition, but are not ready as of now because focus is on grading and training syllabus. I am some senior instructors are as of now in the midst of making sure that our Silat style is in it's original form. Ada diantara mereka yang masih bergiat dan pernah mewakili skuad olahraga, belum lagi bersedia buat ketika ini kerana perhatian dan tumpuan banyak diberi keutamaan kapada peningkatan tali pinggang serta ujian mata-pelajaran Seni Gayong,kursus Guru/Jurulatih dan Permainan Gerak Kesenian Gayong.

That is why I am delegating the competition aspect of our silat school to someone else.

I will ensure that the committee that is supposed to manage competition silat in our school will inform those interested to participate in continuous training complete with record of attendance.
